Why study at Telford?

If you are looking for a course that will equip you with the knowledge and practical skills required for a successful career equitation, then you need to enroll in Telford’s Certificates in equine Programme. Telford Rural Polytechnic is New Zealand’s only specialist rural polytechnic that can provide you with a sound balance of knowledge and skills, to apply to career opportunities or onto further study.

Telford is situated on 800 hectares of rolling, South Otago farmland with sheep and beef, dairy, deer and equine units plus apiculture and forestry blocks. Mechanics, carpentry and welding workshops are within two minutes walk of Telford’s halls of residence. Telford’s equine course has always been popular because approximately 65% of the year’s work is ‘hands-on’.

Theory-based lectures complement practical lessons with classes focused on all aspects of equine life, from exercise physiology and nutrition, through to horse reproduction and breeding. Telford offers small classes with a ‘HANDS ON’ training emphasis.

Regular course review ensures that we are providing the most up-to-date and appropriate programme.
